What address?
Personal domain?

What is the address of my website?

You can get a dinstudio.com address, which means that your address will end with "dinstudio.com". (Or "dinstudio.co.uk" depending on what page you signed in on. The example below uses .com, but the same applies to .co.uk.) When you create your site and write the name of your site (mywebsite, for instance) the address to your site becomes mywebsite.dinstudio.com. You can change your address whenever you like by clicking on the WEBSITE ADDRESS button.

If you already have a domain name, you can link it to a website here. First, create your website here, log in, click on WEBSITE ADDRESS and write your domain name. Scroll down for more detailed instructions under the heading "I already have a domain name. How do I use it?"

Can my website have its own address, like www.mywebsite.com?

Yes, your website can have its own address - like www.mywebsite.com.

To use your own address, you must first register the domain with a domain register. All you need to do is register the actual domain name. That is all you will need from the register. We provide you with the web hotel, email account, and so on.

Make sure that you are allowed to change to your own name server if you register for a new domain. Most domain registers do allow this, but a few will not permit you to use any other name server.

Below are a few recommended registers that you can use to register your own domain.

Important information about special characters in the domain name, read more here.

I already have a domain name. How do I use it?

If you already have your own domain name, you can connect it to the website you built here. You can also have your email here, too. The first thing you need to do is prepare your website for your domain.

Log in to your website and click on WEBSITE ADDRESS

This will take you to the following options. Click on MY DOMAIN NAME

Enter your domain name and click on CONTINUE

Important that you choose the right alternative.
What do you want to do with email linked to your domain?
If you have a recently registered domain, leave the presetting alone so that Din Studio can handle the email.
If you do not have email linked to the domain, leave the presetting alone so that Din Studio can handle the email.
The only time you need to change presetting is if you already have email linked to the domain and you want it to remain intact.

Depending on which of the above options you choose, you will receive an email containing more instructions.

Alt. 1 I would like Din Studio to handle email for @mywebsite.com

Your best option is to check the box
I would like Din Studio to handle email for @mywebsite.com
This is only for email that ends with @mywebsite.com and does not have any effect on email through another provider (like Gmail that ends with @gmail.com).

This alternative lets you create email addresses that end with @mywebsite.com at Din Studio.

This is a very good alternative even if you already have an email address linked to the domain and access it through a program like Outlook or Thunderbird. All you have to do is recreate email addresses at Din Studio after the change, update the settings in the email program and proceed as usual.

You will receive an email with instructions to change to our name servers at the domain:

ns1.dinstudio.com
ns2.dinstudio.com

Alt. 2 Email for @mywebsite.com will be handled by my previous service provider

If you already have email linked to your domain and do not wish to move it but leave it with your current provider, click on the alternative Email for @mywebsite.com will be handled by my previous service provider
(This alternative is necessary only in exceptional cases.)

You will receive an email with instructions regarding an alias. The alias should be entered in the domain’s DNS, thereby creating what is called a DNS pointer. This means that when your visitors surf to www.mywebsite.com, they will land at the website you built with Din Studio.
NOTE!
If they only write mywebsite.com (without www), they will not find your site.

If you are uncertain which alternative to choose, send an email to support and ask.

Regardless which of the above alternatives you select, you can probably get help from the people who helped you register your domain. This is routine for them, and they can fix is quickly.

When you have also made the change in the domain, it can take a while (sometimes up to 48 hours) before everything works the way it should. (This is because Internet servers need to process the new data.) You will be able to surf to your website at Din Studio via your own domain name.
